However, since it involved making money I was pretty sure he hadn’t forgotten. He had actually told me the night before that he is “open 24 hours a day if it involves earning money”. At ten minutes to eight, I could hear his van pull up outside and before I could even open the door, he had already loaded the duffel bag that I had placed outside the door earlier. We chatted for a few, exchanged numbers, and then he dropped me off at the jetty. I weaved my way to the ticket office through the growing crowd, equally mixed with local and tourist. There were a few different ferries leaving at different locations all at the same time, so it was actually a little busy. Nevertheless, I purchased my ticket and grabbed a coffee in the waiting area. We eventually all loaded up and were destined for La Digue, only a 20 minute ride or so. Along the way I sent Dave a text. He told me to call him once I arrived and that he would meet me at the apartment, and so I did. When I arrived at his place, we shook hands, said a few words, and that was really about it.
